"You Have Lipstick On Your Teeth" Stephanie GieseSometimes you just need someone to relate to.

That’s the thought behind inthepowderroom.com, an online community of female writers that recently put out an anthology of short stories, “You Have Lipstick On Your Teeth.”

Hallam writer and blogger Stephanie Giese — who contributed to a humor anthology in March as well — was one of the 39 women who contributed stories to the collection, so we asked her to share a bit about herself and her writing.

Tell us about the book:  Thank God for girlfriends and shared visits to powder rooms! That’s always been the concept behind the website inthepowderroom.com, where we’ve been entertaining women with our humor and bold, brave honesty since 2009. Now we’re taking it to the next level with an anthology of original short stories from some of the wittiest women writers we know — stories they would only tell their closest friends, most likely from within the haven of a ladies’ room. Inside you’ll find 39 (mostly) true tales by women, for women, about being women — bodily changes, relationships, careers, motherhood, aging, illness, and more — written with the humor and grit that proudly sets In The Powder Room apart.

Where did the idea for the book come from?: This book is a collaboration of 39 female humor writers. Each woman has her own chapter. My chapter is called “The Adoption Option (and the Idiots Who Try To Talk to You About It).” Not surprisingly, it’s about the well-meaning, but often-ignorant comments we received while going through the adoption process.

To purchase: “You Have Lipstick On Your Teeth” is available as an e-book or paperback via amazon.com.

Read more: Read a Q&A with Giese from March 2013 on her contribution to “I Just Want To Pee Alone” and her blog, “Binkies and Briefcases.”
